I have a couple of different inspirations for today’s table. First, I found these great lanterns at Dollar General the other day. Don’t you love them? They had them in 3 colors, so I bought all 3 of them.
I like that they are in primary colors. The primary colors made me think of back to school, so that is the other inspiration for this table.
A few days ago, I heard that sound that I love early one morning…the sound of those school buses going by. I love hearing that sound when the school year starts up each year…reminds me that school is starting, but I am not!
Using the lanterns as inspiration, I decided to base my table on these primary colors, so I left the yellow runner down from last week. Red plates, yellow napkins, and blue flatware continues my primary color scheme.
How do like my new blue flatware, by the way? I picked up 2 different sets at Dollar General the other day when I purchased the lanterns, this blue one and another one in a sort of coral color. OK, I know this sounds crazy, but the quality of the Dollar General flatware has really gone down…not that it was ever good in the first place, which makes these extremely cheap and flimsy.
Continuing the primary color themes, I chose Dollar Tree blue goblets and red striped ones, an antique mall purchase from last year.
Anyway, I also recently purchased this great little chalkboard at Hobby Lobby. I got a few markers also, and I am hoping that this will be something I will really enjoy in tablescaping.
Being the empty nesters that we are, I don’t have too much around in the way of school supplies that would look cute on a back to school table. I did manage to find some crayons and some ink pens, so that is the extent of the school supplies at this house!
I love my brightly colored table and hope that you do also. As for recovery update, yesterday was David’s post op checkup from the disc surgery that he had in June. It went great and he was released! He can gradually get back to normal activity, just use common sense, which he does.
We are so thankful for his recovery and freedom from pain. He still can’t sing, but that seems a small price to pay. The dr. assures him that it will get better.
Hope everyone has a good week and great back to school with the schoolkids and teachers in your life!
