Makeup Madness

Wouldn’t a makeup party with a bunch of women, girls, or teens be fun? That was in my mind today as I set the table. So what are Mr. and Mrs. Snowman doing at the top, you may ask? In my last post, I mentioned some bargain shopping and completely forgot to put in this great snowman couple that I got at the thrift store for 50% off of 99 cents! Really, how could I even forget them…their feelings must be really hurt. Plus we all know that I need more salt and pepper shakers…never mind…I won’t go there.

100_9846So it’s a given that a makeup party calls for pastels and girly colors, right? My pink and cream pastel table runner sets the mood.

HL Sunrise plates are a great pink choice for the dinner plate. I’m kind of thinking something light for a girls’ meal…salad and pasta, maybe.

My Danube bowls are a good size to hold pasta and their floral image also carries out the feminine vibe I’m going for.

Since we girls want to dress it up, I broke out my Fostoria Romance and pink tulip goblets. I thought the table needed a little elegance and the Fostoria is perfect for that.

Also providing a little elegance is my Grosvenor silver and my silver napkin rings made out of odd pieces of silver. Of course, pastel pink napkins are a must!

I had a great time figuring out the centerpiece. Makeup wipes should definitely be served on a silverplate candy dish.

Likewise an assortment of lip balms and lipsticks are displayed on a silverplate compote.

What’s a makeup party without brushes? I stuck them in a cylindrical vase and added some glass stones for sturdiness and sparkle. I propped different eyeshadows around and about the centerpiece.

Lip pencils, stick eye shadows and the like are sticking out of my sea glass votive holder…perfect color for this table.

I think that a girl’s table calls for pastel candles. My cheerful giver candles with the soft pink, cream, and green are perfect for this table.

All in all, this was a fun table! I enjoyed being playful and creative with the beauty elements.

Bev, The make-up party idea is wonderful for girls night out. A lovely table set for a evening of girly fun, what could be better? Back in the day I remember “make-up” parties where the guests were served a few pretzels and a cup of coffee while your face was analyzed to determine whether you had Spring, Fall, Winter, or Summer skin tones, then of course they would sell you make-up.
