Yes, it’s beach time, and, no, I won’t be going there any time soon. We are still in waiting mode on hearing from the doctor about David’s test, and he is miserable. So we seem to have all the luck…our lawn mower died, as did our garage door. Hey, I’m not wanting anyone reading this to think that I’m feeling sorry for myself…just stating facts. So why not brighten up my day and my mood and think of the beach? You have seen all of these elements on my beach tables in the past, and I will try to display them in slightly different ways.
I have a number of colorful beach towels that I like to use for table cover on these types of tablescapes.
Of course, I brought out my favorite summer placemats in varying shades of blue and green that definitely evoke a watery feel.
My Mikasa base plates are cream, a bargain that I picked up at my flea market a while back.
My Pfaltzgraff Seaside plates are the perfect shades of blue and green to complement this table.
I love these Dollar Tree shell plates. I’ve used them in various ways; today I’m going back to the top of the plate stack for a salad or dessert. I have the napkins that match the placemats, and I used my Dollar General blue flatware for the color of water. I purchased these sea icon napkin rings toward the end of the summer last year, so I’ve not used them much. I love this big, chunky starfish and the sand dollar in my image above.
For glasses, I went back to the pale minty goblets from last week. The Dollar Tree blue was just the wrong shade, but I will use them on a different summer tablescape soon.
Last fall I was at a yard sale and someone gave me this little shell dish when I bought some other things. Yes, people who have yard sales are often ready to get rid of stuff and will just give you something. I thought of my beach tablescapes the minute I saw it, so I’ve had it put away just waiting for the first beach table of the summer! How do like the little seahorse? So cute!
Also I decided to put my Dollar General seashells in the plates this time…just to change it up a bit.
I really like my workhorse candleholders for beach tables…the great beach chairs from Dollar General. I will never get tired of these little cuties! The starfish vase also came from Dollar General, and I just dumped out the rest of the shells by the chairs after I filled the plates.
This little teapot came from my flea market last year. The shell theme is perfect for the table, and I think I only spent $2 or $3 on it. The Dollar General sea-glass colored candle holder is rimmed with shells and perfect on this table.
Don’t you love the marine turtle napkin ring? Really cute!
I really like my table and it definitely reminds me of the beach!
When I reread my first paragraph, I realized that I sounded a little negative and didn’t mean to. I do have some good news to report as well. I picked up my May check from the flea market, and it was one of the best months that I have ever had. I am so pumped about that since we have no idea what type of medical bills we are facing.
A few years ago when I first began reading blogs, I actually started with cooking blogs and discovered Christy Jordan of Southern Plate after reading about her in Southern Living. I still keep up with her blog and have purchased her cookbooks. I love all of the recipes that I have tried of hers. Anyway, many blogs that I read sometime have giveaways. I only enter if it’s something I think I might want; I don’t enter just to enter. She did a great post about Moore’s Marinades and I thought they sounded good, so I entered.
You can imagine my surprise when I was notified that I was one of the winners. When I got home from the flea market this morning, I found a large, heavy package on my porch.
It is a box of 7 Moore’s Marinades. There is also a Moore’s huggy and a card with a coupon for my next purchase and a couple of recipe ideas.
It was really hard to get all 7 in a photograph. So I tried to break them up to show you…Teriyaki, Buffalo, and Asian Teriyaki.
Also I got Original, Honey BBQ, and Blue (yes, it’s spelled that way) Cheese Buffalo. The seventh bottle is a second Blue Cheese Buffalo.
I think my husband was more excited than I was about it and he is planning on what to fix with them this weekend.
So don’t think that I’m Debbie Downer…I’ve actually had a good day and am looking forward to using one of these marinades soon.
Hope those of you going to the beach have a great time and enjoy your summertime grilling!
