Spring Magnolias and Catching Up

Long time, no see (or no read)! The Passion Play took so much out of me this year. I probably could have made time for another table last week, but just did not find the energy. Have not had any energy this week, either, but finally just made myself do a few things last night. I am absolutely embarrassed at how dirty my house is and I finally looked at my Easter table this afternoon and said it’s got to go. But the good news is that our Passion Play was wonderful, 3 good nights, no rain-outs, and great attendance. He is risen indeed!

I was ready to take the pink tablecloth off and put it away, but I really wanted to do one more spring table with it first. How about my magnolia dishes? I have always liked burgundy with pink, so I decided to go for it.

I decided to layer the pink napkin between the dinner and dessert plates. I like the way the pink brings out the burgundy in the plates.

For stemware, I used both the matching magnolia glasses and the pink tulip goblets.

San Remo flatware finishes off the place setting.

For the centerpiece, I layered my burgundy runner over the pink tablecloth. The green variegated candle on the black stand seemed a good choice to bring out the green in the dishes. I like to accent with green since there is so much of it in these dishes.

I chose a vintage Salem china platter. I love the burgundy edge around the pastel flowers. As I looked at the platter, which I have had for many, many years, I realized that this platter may have started my love of using burgundy and pink together.

I needed one other element for the centerpiece. I looked through my pottery collection and chose this small Camark pottery pitcher. I love this pitcher and it is a good “workhorse” type of décor that I can use in many places.

Well, I didn’t spend as much time on my table as I would have liked, but at least it is different. The important thing is that I have made a start! Last night I started a little sweeping and dusting and I will continue with some more after I finish this blog post (I told you…my house is really bad right now). I also caught up with the piles of mail and laundry.

This morning I caught up in my booth at the flea market…I’ve only done a bare minimum there as well. The good news is that March, while still slow, was a good bit better than February. I sold a nice set of dishes, some sets of glasses, and other odds and ends.

In the last 2 weeks, I have been able to work into my schedule a couple of small buying trips which I did not even take the time to photograph and show you. I got those things washed and priced and put out this morning and rearranged the booth somewhat.

I ran out of steam and would like to do some more, but just can’t manage it right now. So that is my catching up for right now…lots to do and no energy to do it!

Added 4/9:

Rain is moving in, so I had to snap some pics of my azaleas before all the blooms get beaten off the bushes.

The photos are dark because it is early morning plus very cloudy.

Pink and burgundy has always been a favorite color combination for me. I just love the burgundy plates set on your lovely pink tablecloth. The pink napkin placed beneath the salad plate is a beautiful touch that does offer a wonderful contrast to the deeper color of the plates. Love the matching wine glasses too. I was happy to hear that the Passion Play went so well. I know you work so hard to help make the play a success. Having good weather was a great bonus that helped assure the attendance would be good.
