Halloween and True Confessions

The last Halloween table that I showed you used these cute Cracker Barrel plates, and I mentioned that I had always regretted that I did not purchase more of them. After writing that post, I had a sudden thought: eBay! Why I had never thought of searching eBay for more of these plates is beyond me, especially when I use eBay all the time to hunt for tablescaping bargains. Well, I found them, so this Halloween table features my recent finds.

As usual, I started with my Halloween placemats. I love these placemats and actually purchased them on eBay many years ago.

I decided to layer 2 solid color plates, my square taupe Wal Mart plates and the black ones that my mother-in-law gave me last year. The solid colors were a good backdrop to show off my cute plates.

For the napkins, I went back to my 2 sets of Halloween napkins which I purchased from The Napkin Lady a few years back. This time I mixed and matched the 2 sets. I wish you could tell from my pics that the eyes of the spiders on these napkins are actually sparkly.

The green napkins went on the plate with the green background, and the orange ones were next to the plate with the orange background. I placed the napkins in my jack-0-lantern napkin rings (I’ve probably had them 20 years or more) and set them on top of the plate stack so that the colors would be next to each other.

I decided to use only one glass for this place setting, the orange striped stems from Dollar Tree.

Of course, the black San Remo flatware was the best choice for this place setting.

For the centerpiece, I decided to keep it simple. The eBay lot that I purchased included not only two more of the little plates, but a large plate as well. I really loved that I found this plate, especially since I had no idea that they were even made in this size. It will be a great serving piece, but for this table I am displaying it on a stand.

I chose my two ceramic jack-o-lanterns to place on either side of the plate and left it at that. I have had both of these jack-o-lanterns many years and really enjoy using them each year.

Then I went really wild….instead of candy corn, I chose candy pumpkins in the witch boot shoes for the final touch on the table. I know; it’s scandalous not to use candy corn, but I’m just all crazy like that.

You probably noticed something about this post if you are a regular reader. A while back, I swore off extra purchasing while I am working on paying off medical bills since my recent surgery.

OK, I admit it: I fell off the wagon. To be perfectly honest, I am pretty mad at myself about it. I showed no willpower at all and made an impulse purchase. I know better!

After a good deal of prayer and thought, I decided not to beat myself up about it, but to move on. I did it; I own it; I will not do it again in the future.

So there you have it. I have confessed and beaten myself up a lot the last few days.

Now I choose to forgive myself and move on with my resolve further strengthened.

No more spending! I can do it. Happy Halloween and I can’t wait to see all of the Halloween décor out there in blogland.

  10. We all spend a bit more then we should….sometimes I feel like the queen of it. But then I forgive myself because we as women spend so much time giving to others that we have a tendency to forget ourselves…..don’t beat yourself up! Such a fun table, love it!
