The weather is cool here! For the first time this season we have a convergence of 2 events: cooler temps plus the forecast that they are here to stay. Yea! If you have ever read my blog before, you know what that means……wait for it…. wait for it…..
With that in mind, I had a great time setting the kitchen table for our favorite fall meal which we will definitely have this weekend.
I started with the Target Home Jade Moon dinner plates. If you remember, I picked up 20 pieces of this great pattern at a thrift shop a while back. I think this pattern is great for Halloween. I really try to not spend any money on my tablescapes. Sometimes it is harder than others to avoid my favorite discount stores. I will not go to Dollar Tree; I will not go to Dollar Tree….
I first had another plate for the second layer. When I was reaching for these Wal Mart plates to put them away, I had the thought that they might be o.k. on the Jade Moon plates. Great call, if I do say so myself! I think that this pair is a wonderful look. I will not go to Dollar Tree; I will not go to Dollar Tree….
Then I used the bowl on top. Remember, we’re having soup, so we gotta have a bowl.
I pulled out these wonderful Halloween napkins that I purchased a long time ago from The Napkin Lady. If you haven’t tried her yet, you really need to do that. Her eBay site currently has some cute fall, Halloween, and holiday napkins for sale. My photos don’t really show it, but these spiders have cute little sparkly eyes. My ghost and pumpkin napkin rings are about 22 years old. I love them.
I put out a spoon (we’re only having taco soup, remember???) and then looked through some of my other Halloween items. I will not go to Dollar Tree; I will not go to Dollar Tree….
I like these little plates; they came from Cracker Barrel back with I first started tablescaping.
My only regret is not buying more of them.
I thought that they would be perfect to act as coasters under the wine glasses. I found these wine glasses a few years back at a thrift store, and I love that the teal stems go with the Jade Moon dishes.
Remember my kitchen table is small, and I don’t do much in the way of a centerpiece. I found these pumpkin plates at Family Dollar.
For a simple vignette, I placed my Hallmark miniature candleholders and candles on the plate.
I purchased these over 25 years ago in a Hallmark store in Monroe, Louisiana. How do I remember such a trivial detail? I have no idea.
I like the finished look and am looking forward to the soup!
Basically, the only new purchase on the kitchen table are the pumpkin plates. I will not go to Dollar Tree; I will not go to Dollar Tree….
For the dining table, I pulled out the Halloween placemats that I purchased on eBay many years ago. I will not go to Dollar Tree; I will not go to Dollar Tree….
Fell off the wagon for just a sec…I made a little trip to Dollar Tree this morning, and guess what I found! Black plates…I’ve been wanting some for tablescaping for a while and these are cheap ($1-Dollar Tree, remember?) and are exactly what I needed. I will not go to Dollar Tree; I will not go to Dollar Tree….
I pulled out my acid green Halloween napkins (also a Napkin Lady purchase) to top the plate.
Then the Pfaltzgraff Halloween plates made their yearly appearance.
I love these plates.
Even though they can only be used once a year, I think that they were worth the purchase. By the way, didn’t know mummies were so happy.
The San Remo flatware is perfect for Halloween. Not only is black the right color, but also the silver accents are kind of goth-looking.
I will not go to Dollar Tree; I will not go to Dollar Tree…. A lot of us tablescapers have these Dollar Tree glasses in the blue and the green. I’m not sure how the stores decide when to put the glasses out, but sometimes they have one color and/or one size, sometimes the other, sometimes both, sometimes none. Today I found the green in the flute size. I’ve not seen them in this size before, so I snapped them up. I will not go to Dollar Tree; I will not go to Dollar Tree…. Green seemed like a good color to go with for this table. By the way, when is Dollar Tree going to give us these in more colors? I want red, purple, aqua, …..well, you get the idea. I will not go to Dollar Tree; I will not go to Dollar Tree….
For the centerpiece, I chose my large ceramic jack-o-lantern. He is another really old purchase. I will not go to Dollar Tree; I will not go to Dollar Tree….
I put my small jack-o-lantern and tall, skinny witch on tall candlesticks to make them stand out a little more.
I found the variegated green candle at Dollar General today and thought it would be a great color for Halloween. I like it juxtaposed with the variegated orange candle.
My Family Dollar leaf dishes make another appearance, this time as candy dishes.
Do you love these witch boots? I found them at a thrift store last year and liked them so much that I kept them rather than put them in my booth.
I thought that they were perfect toppers for the plate stack, with some great candy pumpkins, of course.
Candy corn and candy pumpkins are a must-have for this time of year.
I love the final look and enjoyed getting out my Halloween items. Most of these things I have had for years. I will not go to Dollar Tree; I will not go to Dollar Tree….
New items for this table are the black plates, the green flutes, the green candle, and the candy. I will not go to Dollar Tree; I will not go to Dollar Tree….
I can’t wait to see all of the Halloween tables in blogland this season! I will not go to Dollar Tree; I will not go to Dollar Tree….
I will not go to Dollar Tree; I will not go to Dollar Tree….
