Disclaimer: My photos are very dark today because it was very cloudy this morning when I shot these before going to work. The sun came out in full force later this afternoon, I assure you! By then I was at work at the newspaper, so you get what you get!
First of all, thanks to Lavender Garden for featuring my fall mantle! Her bog is so wonderful, with great photos and ideas. Be sure to hop on over for a visit!
Today I have yet another variation on the fall tablescapes that I showed you last week. In true Mississippi fashion, the weather has once again turned really hot and uncomfortable; the fall décor looks a little out of place. However, I’m not going back to summer, so I’ll just go for it!
In the kitchen, I kept the April Cornell sunflower runner and napkins, but varied the place settings somewhat. I placed the off white Wedgwood dinner plate on the same sage green placemats as last week, and I used my everyday Chateau flatware. I chose the acorn napkin rings for this look.
For the salad plate, I chose the Wal Mart pumpkin plates from a few years ago, and I really like how the colors complement the colors of the sunflower linens.
I decided on the Dollar General glasses. I like both the color and the size of these glasses. I wish they had made them in more colors! The only ones like this that I ever see now are the clear, which I don’t need.
As usual, I didn’t do a centerpiece since the kitchen table is small. I kept the candle holders and variegated candles from last week because I really like how they look. The colors are perfect for this table.
I kept my Gail Pittman bowl centerpiece for the dining room table, but changed up the rest of the tablescape a good bit.
I just kept the white tablecloth down and did not use placemats. I love my Wal Mart square plates and used them for the base. I topped them with these April Cornell napkins and used the Present Time flatware. I love the muted fall colors in these napkins.
I chose my Friendly Village square plates for the next layer. I love these square plates, and the colors are great for fall.
For the next layer, I decided on the pumpkin plates. I really like how this pop of orange looks with the autumnal colors. Two of the place settings have the pumpkin plates, and
two have these fall leaf plates. I think that I got these 4 plates at Dollar General when I first started tablescaping. I’m fixing to retire the leaf ones to my booth, however. This is the last time you will be seeing them. I found some that I like better at Family Dollar, and remember I don’t buy anything unless I get rid of something.
So for the top layer I brought out my little Dollar General kettles from last year. Aren’t they great? I love them for fall and winter! Can you tell that I have really been wanting some taco soup? I don’t think it will ever get cool enough to have it!
I chose two different glasses for this place setting, both Dollar Tree purchases from days of yore. I put my fall wine charms on the green stemware, and I used the fall leaf glasses. Love this look!
If you know me, you aren’t surprised to see salt and pepper shakers at each place. I picked up these squirrels at Family Dollar yesterday.
Since I used my Gail Pittman bowl again, I decided to use candlesticks as well.
The spider lilies are just beginning to open up. I decided that it was the perfect fall flower for the vase.
I found this great fall leaf plate at Family Dollar, and I plan to purchase a few more. They will be replacing the DG ones above that are going to my booth tomorrow.
I found this great acorn plate also. I may get more of them; I haven’t decided. I’ve got to come up with more to get rid of if I do! Family Dollar has some really cute fall stuff, and I promise ya’ll that they are not paying me!
I scattered my fall leaf votives on another end of the table. I think that these all came from Dollar Tree at different times.
The Gail Pittman tray found a home on the other corner of the table. It is mainly there to keep it out of the living room while David is working on the pump organ in there. I got really scared a couple of weeks ago that it was going to bite the dust in all of the construction going on. I’ll put some pics up of the pump organ soon. David is almost through restoring it, and we are donating it to our church fall silent auction. Hope it sells!
I really like how this table ended up, and I wish that the photos were better. Hopefully you can get the idea, anyway.
Two things about prayer before I close:
My friend John Robert has been cleared to go to Disney World. The trip has been planned for a long time, and he was afraid that he wouldn’t get to go. He goes with his brother and sister and their families next week. Thanks for all of the prayers!
I spoke briefly with a former colleague yesterday. Her son and his wife are expecting their second child, a Trisomy 18 son, in about a month. Remember them all in your prayers.
The sweet baby does not have a good prognosis. While we take comfort that he will be in the arms of Jesus, the families are and will be heartbroken. Pray for their strength, health, and comfort in the coming weeks.
Thank you for your prayers. We take comfort in Scripture. God keeps His promises, and He is faithful, even (especially) when life isn’t.
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28
