I’m in love! I have been reading blogs for a long time that mention a store called Home Goods, which I had never heard of until I began reading about the bargains that a lot of you come across for your tables. Yesterday I traveled to the nearest large city to me, and I saw one of these stores. Having read about this store for a long time, I knew that I had to stop.
OK, can I just tell you now that I have fallen completely, totally head over heels in love with this store!!! I could have stayed in there forever; it was amazing! I wanted to spend, spend, spend, but managed to contain myself to only a few things.
Do you love this April Cornell table runner and napkins? I’ve seen this sunflower pattern on some tablescaping blogs and love it. I never dreamed that I would actually find them myself, and at a great bargain! You also see a new oven mitt. I guess my mitts have gotten old; they don’t do a lot to protect my hands from a hot pan any more. By the way, I even had a hard time picking an oven mitt! There were so many great ones to choose from, but I stuck to my favorite taupe.
I am totally and completely in love. Home Goods has a new great customer. I will keep you updated on my great buys, and I am glad to live in a small town where there is not one nearby. I would be broke all the time!
If you read my blog, you have probably noticed that I’ve not shown any bargains from yard sales and thrift shops lately. That is deliberate. Because I have been bargain shopping for several months, I actually have a good bit of merchandise that I need to move. At the beginning of this month I made a decision not to go to any sales for a while until I sold some inventory. Most of my current inventory consists of Christmas items and sets of dishes, so it might take me a little while to sell down. However, I did make a quick stop at one of my favorite thrift stores yesterday. They did not have a lot that I wanted, so I only purchased a few things.
This little snowman bowl is as cute as it can be! It would be cute holding holiday candy or treats.
This pitcher would be sweet to hold your juice for your Christmas morning breakfast. Sorry, my photo is not that great.
I also found these large Santa mugs. I think that they are really cute. I will be updating my internet store in the next day or two, and you can find them there.
While I am on the subject of selling merchandise, I have a great booth update to share. I put up my set of 12 Old Country Roses plates just a couple of weeks ago. I put a much higher price on them than I normally put on a set of dishes. However, the price was still a lot cheaper than one at a department store, and I was fine with keeping them if they don’t sell. I got a call a couple of days ago that they had sold! I am thrilled. With those and the Gibson set, I have actually sold 2 sets of dishes in one month! I hope that this selling pattern will hold.
I close with my tablescape featuring April Cornell. My sage green placemats and dusty yellow plates were perfect with the colors in the runner.
I tried all of my fall plates on top of the yellow, and they all looked good. I settled on the Cracker Barrel ones for today. I will use the others at some table in the future.
For the napkins, I chose the beaded napkin rings. I really like how they look.
The San Remo flatware was the perfect choice to go with the yellow and green.
Of course, I had to use the green Dollar Tree goblets and fall wine charms again.
I didn’t want to do much of a centerpiece or vignette since I want the focus to be on the linens. The autumn leaf votive holders from Dollar Tree were a great choice for this table. These wooden candle holders that my son made me a few years ago were also good choices to add a natural element to this table. The colors of the pillars are great with the muted green and yellow in the linens as well.
Overall, I am thrilled with the final look of this table and my first use of these beautiful table linens!
Most of all, I am thrilled with my new love and looking forward to a long and prosperous (for it, anyway) relationship. Be sure to check out my internet stores!
